Write a story about a topic of your choice. It must contain at least one interesting and unusual scientific or historical fact (ex. the shortest war in history lasted just 38 minutes). Include the reputable source of your fact.
Your story must also include the following: - All articles highlighted in yellow - All proper adjectives highlighted in blue - All demonstrative adjectives highlighted in pink You must also include at least three positive adjectives (highlighted in orange), two comparative adjectives (highlighted in gray) and one superlative adjective (highlighted in purple). There is no minimum length, just make it good. Be sure to include a variety of adjectives that answer a variety of questions (i.e. What kind?, How much?, How many? and Which one?). We already talked about the most important job of the last 10,000 years. It's easy to look backwards.
Here's the hard part: What will be the most important job of the next 10,000 years? To answer this question, you've got to hypothesize A LOT about what the future will be like. How will daily life change? Where will we live? On this planet? On another? What type of technology will we have? It's quite likely that this most important job does not exist yet. You've got to create it. And convince me that you know what you're talking about. Here's your outline: Paragraph One: What is the future like in 10,000 years? Paragraph Two: What is the most important job and what type of skills will you need to do it well? Paragraph Three: How did you come up with your ideas? You get extra respect and admiration for using your internet search skills and for including pictures and diagrams. It can be done on paper, Google Doc, Google Slide...you choose! If you choose to create a Core Concepts Study Guide, you must cover all of the material below as you will be responsible for the material on an assessment. You may present your findings in any format (i.e. Google Doc, Slides, poster, etc.), but you must include at least one reliable source for each topic. You must provide a link to your sources somewhere in your final document.
No Yellowstone extension for this assignment. Check the "Glacier" or "Olympic" page.
James Cameron has conquered the Mariana Trench. Should he go to Antarctica next? Why or why not?
You need to choose one of the following two things: 1. Email Mr. Cameron requesting that he take you on his next journey into the Mariana Trench. Be sure to explain why he should take you and why you want to go. Show that you already know something about his past expeditions and about the trench itself. OR 2. Make a suggestion to Mr. Cameron that his next expedition should be to Antarctica. Explain why he should explore this destination. How could the world benefit from seeing more of Antarctica through the eyes of this famed Hollywood director. Again, be sure to display your knowledge about Shackleton and Antarctica. Name your email "Cameron" (ex. "Arches.Clay.Cameron") in a Google Doc and share it with me. Begin with "Dear Mr. Cameron," and explain your thoughts in 3-4 thoughtfully worded paragraphs. |
